When the Maryland Stadium Authority contracted SM+P Architects in spring 2002 to serve as Construction Phase Architect of Record for the Hippodrome Theatre renovation, the team hit the ground running. This city-block historic tax credit project — a crown jewel of Baltimore’s cultural heritage — required rapid mobilisation, a carefully assembled consultant team, and unwavering commitment to the building’s historic character. Completed in 2004, the Hippodrome stands today as one of Baltimore’s most beloved performance venues, fully restored for a new generation. SM+P’s role reflects their capability to navigate the complexity of major institutional historic renovations while meeting demanding timelines.
