In collaboration with nationally recognised barn restorer Ken Epworth of The Barn People, SM+P converted an 18th-century New England barn — relocated to Cockeysville — into a pool house of remarkable character and sustainability. The first level houses an exercise area, kitchenette, changing rooms, steam bath, and garage. The loft became a home office and gallery, accessible via a metal catwalk with views down through stacked doors to the pool below. The exterior is clad in vertical cedar siding with a standing seam metal roof. Recycled barn materials, recycled metal roof content, sustainable wood products, and geothermal energy make this one of the most environmentally considered projects in SM+P’s portfolio.
