SM+P’s relationship with Maryland Golf and Country Club began with founding principal Walter Schamu designing the original clubhouse in 1997. In 2019, SM+P was engaged for a comprehensive renovation of both the clubhouse and pool house. The clubhouse renovation repositioned the bar to be centralised within the expansive dining room, shifted the main dining area towards the golf course for better views, added a private formal dining room with temperature-controlled wine rooms, and renovated all public areas and restrooms. A key addition: an elevated, covered outdoor dining terrace directly overlooking the course. This multi-decade relationship is one of the clearest examples of SM+P’s long-term institutional stewardship.
