This 1900 Shingle Style house in Roland Park once accommodated eleven apartments. SM+P Architects restored it to its original purpose as a single-family residence — a historically sympathetic renovation in a National Historic District, requiring review and approval by the Maryland Historic Trust. New systems and finishes were implemented throughout; a new three-car garage and interior ‘open cage’ elevator were added. The project is a model of sensitive adaptive reuse: bringing a significant historic home back to its original intended use while meeting all contemporary requirements.
