This location originally housed the Hampden food market — a dilapidated grocery store that had closed. The shell was stripped bare, requiring structural upgrades and a complete overhaul of all utilities. SM+P designed a minimal and modern interior: white painted brick walls with black steel accent walls, a strong central axis and view to the open kitchen highlighted by the blue glass tile wall at the cooking battery. SM+P also fabricated the custom 30-foot long steel light shade that dominates the centre of the space, and designed a completely new industrial window façade. The owners wanted something different from other Hampden restaurants — SM+P delivered exactly that.
