This location originally housed the Hampden food market, a dilapidated grocery store that went out of business. The shell was in horrible shape and needed a full gut. The space was stripped bare and required structural upgrades as well as upgrades to all of its utilities. The owners sought a modernist interior and something different than what other restaurants were doing in the area. SM+P designed a minimal and modern interior with white painted brick walls with black steel accent walls. SM+P also fabricated the custom 30’ long steel light shade that dominates the center of the space. The design was established with a strong axis and view to the open kitchen highlighted by the blue glass tile wall at the cooking battery. SM+P also designed a totally new façade with industrial windows.
