When Ceremony Coffee Roasters decided to expand to a second location in Baltimore, they returned to SM+P for the design of their new store. The 1900sf space is located in the new Exelon tower in Harbor Point, and sits adjacent to the main entry lobby for the office building. A central bar dominates the space, and the form was conceived to help dictate and control the flow from separate street and lobby entrances. The bar- which also offers counter seating- contains all of the main service functions of the operation, including Coffee/Espresso, Pour-Over, Pastry Case, and Grab-and-Go. The material palette was limited to walnut, brass, steel, and marble in order to highlight the main elements in the space. The new location- which marks Ceremony’s expansion to evening hours- was tailored to create an atmosphere that transitions from bright during day service, to a warm, inviting space during evening cocktail service.
