B&O Oakland Station

Back to All Work

SM+P Architects’ refurbishment of the B&O Oakland Station in Western Maryland brought the same rigour and commitment to accuracy that defines all their historic preservation work. Working closely with local and state preservation agencies, the team achieved a refurbishment described in their own words as ‘truly accurate’ — a standard requiring deep knowledge of historic materials, construction methods, and the regulatory processes governing landmark buildings. The Oakland Station sits in the same B&O Railroad heritage tradition as the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, reflecting SM+P’s particular expertise in this corner of Maryland’s architectural history.
